This mug has an elegant shape. It was created as a souvenir of the participatory art project “Blue as a Butterfly”.
From March to September, a diverse group of people from Philadelphia and beyond helped to cut over 20,000 pixelated butterflies of all shapes and shades of blue.
All these blue butterflies found their way home to FRIEDA, landing on the canopy at the entrance of 320 Walnut, and some making their way into the space. Blue as a butterfly is about coming together as a community for inspiration and resilience during these challenging times.
Blue butterflies are rare and symbolize transformation, renewal, freedom, and luck!
